A polymath should speak at least three languages fluently and has two or more advanced degrees in diverse subjects, including at least one in the sciences. I was blessed (cursed?) with a polymath for an advisor in college. He thought I was as smart as he was, and put me in master's level classes during my sophomore year of college. In nuclear engineering. I almost had a nervous breakdown.

Fortunately for me, the professor teaching the class finally realized I was one of his sophomore students in Applied Reactor Theory, an undergraduate class, and had the 700 level class expunged from my record. He also made me drop another class because no one but a polymath should ever attempt to carry 24 credit hours or hard science courses in one semester. I remember both teachers fondly.

I'm a gleefully retired nuclear engineer, wife, mother and (new) grandmother. We live in Arizona in a rural neighborhood. I retired early to write and travel.
