Children should be taught about racism starting in elementary school. They should NOT be taught that all black kids are victims and all white kids are "oppressors." All that does is rei, nforce racism, teach black kids that they're somehow "less," and shame white kids into thinking they are evil inheritors of the "sins of the past."

Start by teaching we are all equal in the eyes of the law. That we all should have the same opportunity. That we all can shape our own futures. That the school will do everything it can to help each of us become our best, brightest self. That we ALL are responsible to reach out and help each other, starting in the class room. Start by helping kids not be afraid of those who are different, whether it's skin color or a learning disability. There are so many ways to build bridges between children that will carry forward into the future! Teach the bad, racist history along with the good. Teach about the black, white and asian Americans who've helped shape our history.
