Dad is an idiot. You don't spring something like this on your daughter in the middle of the night. You talk about it the next morning and ask for ideas and solutions. Maybe Mom and dad should have bunked out in the other room on that side of the house, instead of displacing the daughter? Once the kid is sleeping through the night, the problem resolves itself.
