I'm confused. I watched my son go through painful surgery to participate in IVF treatments so he and his wife could have a child. I saw the way his face lit up when he and his wife called to tell us they were--finally!--pregnant. With twins! I watched him mourn when their two little sparks failed to take. Don't tell me men don't want children. Many want children. And family. Both my sons do 'non-manly' chores. My youngest is well aware that his wife works full-time to be a wife, homemaker, and mother to our two grandsons. She doesn't have to ask him to help out at home--they are both active parents, and partners in the truest sense of the words.

What amazes me is how determined both my boys are to have families, in spite of how society disparages those who want family. A big part of this is that most couples can't live on one income.
